Q: Is Meet The Masters
assembly or classroom based?
A:
Actually, it is both. MTM teaches art
appreciation through multimedia presentations. They children
learn about the lives and works of master artists through
slides, prints, props, games, dress ups, and voices and music
on CDs. It is highly motivational and always age appropriate.
This portion of the curriculum is usually, but not always,
presented in grade-level assemblies.
Once the students have learned the background and style of
the artist, they experience two more activities--first, a
follow-up packet reviewing the art element previously introduced
in the assembly. These 2 - 4 page teacher directed worksheets
further prepare the students for the final part of the unit--a
classroom art activity related to the master artist by subject
matter, technique, or medium. The art technique packets and follow-up
art activities are done in each individual classroom.
This 3-Step learning process has proven to be very thorough
and successful-- Over 2 Million Taught!
Q: What are the Artist
Units for the first Track (Track A)?
A:
Track A Artist Units: Preview of Coming Attractions, Vincent
van Gogh, Claude Monet, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, Piet
Mondrian, Pablo Picasso.
We selected these Masters for their exciting artwork, unique
lives, style of art, and the great introductory elements dominant
in their artwork (color, texture, balance, rhythm, etc.) The
children learn and use these elements and styles in their
own artwork. The results are outstanding and memorable!
